Once we begin our sessions, we regularly review to make sure you feel you’re getting what you need. Our priority is your wellbeing at all times. Building a basic foundation is important before exploring the harder stuff! To do the hard work effectively and safely, we need to establish a baseline first. Together we work on exploring your support system (including self-care practices and coping skills), identifying personal strength, goals, and dreams; working on emotional regulation, observing how emotions show up in your body, and understanding your window of tolerance. Through guided exploration and evidence-based techniques, we are here to support you in healing past wounds, breaking past cycles, embracing your authentic self, and navigating the journey from surviving through striving.

Registered Social Worker

I am a Registered Psychotherapist who specializes in art therapy, and am fluent in both Mandarin and English–sessions can be provided in both languages. Through an trauma-informed, intersectional, and client-centered approach, I support individuals navigating relationships, trauma, acculturation, self worth, anxiety, depression, life transitions, deeper understanding of themselves, and other therapeutic goals.

My intersections as a bi-cultural, Taiwanese, first-generation immigrant woman give me insight into how cultural factors influence personal, relational, intergenerational, and systemic aspects of the human experience. These identities and my lived experience equip me to work with an intersectional lens and help develop a deep understanding towards clients.

As someone who continues to navigate and heal through interpersonal, familial relationships and intergenerational trauma, especially within the context of transitioning between cultures, I understand the challenges and pain my clients may be experiencing. I see you and would like to invite you to reach out and see how I can best support you on your journey.

I offer therapy that honors your unique journey, especially if you’re navigating transitions, cultural identity, or emotional overwhelm. As a first-generation immigrant and neurodivergent person, I understand how complex it can be to adjust to a new culture or balance multiple identities. These experiences shape my compassionate, client-centered approach.

Together, we’ll create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. Whether you’re working through anxiety, burnout, or life changes, I’m here to help you build emotional resilience and reconnect with your strengths at a pace that feels right for you.

Please note: I don’t book same-day sessions unless we’ve already discussed and agreed it’s necessary priorly.

If you have trouble booking, feel free to email me at shutinghearttoarttherapy@gmail.com.

Hello and welcome to my page! As a first-generation immigrant woman, I provide therapy sessions in English, Mandarin or Cantonese, with a culturally sensitive, intersectional, and humanistic approach. I have deep care and understanding, because of my own journey of living, studying, and working abroad alone for the last decade, for the need to have a safe space to explore all of the unique challenges and nuances of your experiences. I get it, it can feel scary, lonely, isolating, and tiring to fight alone, but I believe this can also be the birthplace of resilience, fun, and opportunity to create the life you love living in.

One of my passions lies in supporting those through challenging relationships. My goal is to help you work through relationship injuries and rebuild your sense of self so that you feel grounded, comfortable, and confident in your own skin, and so that you can find relationships that align with the kind of love and care you want to receive and give.

I believe we are all wired for connection, and that’s why we get hurt, but also how we heal. I do come into this work with my own story of trauma and healing, which brings empathy and understanding to our sessions. It’ll be my honour to support you through the journey of growth and healing, hope to see you soon!
